(TMI) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim wants embattled the Selangor menteri besar to respect PKR’s decision yesterday, saying Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim has lost the support of Pakatan Rakyat.

The opposition leader PKR’s position on the matter was clear and it was time for Khalid to accept it and move on.

“I have discussed with PAS and DAP, we have to resolve this fast because the state has to function effectively.

“I think the MB has lost confidence of the party and the majority and he has to respect the decision,” he told reporters during a short press conference after a 90-minute meeting with DAP leaders today.Anwar said the meeting was to ensure everyone in Pakatan is on the same page on the MB issue as well as on other issues affecting the coalition.

He said he would also meet PAS leaders, including its president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang. to listen to their views and find ways to resolve the current impasse.

The move to replace Khalid was initiated by PKR following numerous complaints against the two-term MB over his unilateral way of running the state without consulting PKR and Pakatan.

Khalid has also been criticised for his handling of issues, such as water rationing, the Selangor Islamic Religious Department’s seizure of Bibles, and the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex), which is seen as going against the pact’s election manifesto to abolish tolled highways.

PKR has named its president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who won the Kajang by-election earlier this year, as Khalid’s replacement.

But Khalid has remained adamant that he would not step down as MB, saying he will serve his full term.

The former corporate leader on Tuesday was issued a show cause letter by PKR for going against the party decision.

Following his expulsion yesterday, the Port Klang assemblyman said the action was “flawed and illegal”, and vowed to remain as MB pending advice from the state ruler. – August 10, 2014.
